Throughout history, Santa Monica has been referred to by many endearing names including “Pearl of the Pacific”, “City of Inspiration” and “Jewel of the Sunset Bay”. Originally, Chumash Indians dwelt here before Spanish explorers discovered the area, when Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo dropped anchor in Santa Monica Bay in 1542. The gold rush brought many new people to Santa Monica, and trust us when we say that this city is still filled to the brim with gold.
When thinking of Santa Monica, the first thing to pop to your mind is usually the Santa Monica Pier. This iconic attraction is a quintessential Los Angeles staple. The perfect backdrop for your vacation photos or your company’s product photoshoot, the pier lights up both the day and the night. It has an old school feel with Pacific Park: a classic arcade, a ferris wheel (it is solar powered!), rollercoaster and even traditional carnival games. With multi-million dollar real estate, Santa Monica is the pinnacle of beachside luxury in Southern California. The downtown shopping strip named Third Street Promenade includes three blocks of shops after shop and restaurants after restaurants. The space is blocked off for drivers, so take a nice stroll and enjoy the warm weather.
Palisades Park is another place to see while in Santa Monica. It’s also a great photo opportunity for your wedding photos! This park stretches along the crumbling bluffs overlooking the iconic Pacific Coast Highway and the famous Stretch of beach that LA is famous for. Miles and miles of unobstructed sand are a great place to relax and get some sun in. Or, if you are feeling active and adventurous, take your bike for a ride down the 26-mile bike path.
If you’re looking to get that perfect Instagram shot of a palm tree lined street with a sparkling blue sky, then Montana Avenue is the place for you. But do not forget to watch out for traffic!
