What it lacks in size, Coronado makes up for in pure charm. Coronado lies across the San Diego Bay from downtown San Diego. It is known as a “resort city”. It is more or less an island, connected to the mainland by a tombolo. Spanish for “crowned one”, Coronado got its nickname The Crown City. Even three United States Navy ships have been named after the city! It’s a hot spot in San Diego for both tourists and locals.
Hotel Coronado makes quite the impact and we love pairing our event rentals with an equally photogenic backdrop. Built in 1888, Hotel del Coronado has been long considered one of the world’s top resorts. It is a National Historic Landmark and has hosted a wide variety of politicians including George H. Bush, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, Gerald Ford, the list goes on! The fact that it’s suited by our nation’s presidents goes to show how top notch this hotel is! Often referred to as “The Del”, this hotel has been in many films. It was even inspiration for “The Emerald City” in The Wizard of Oz! It really is full of magic in every little corner. Our favorite event at the Hotel Del? A boho set-up on the beach!
Another place we love is Loews Coronado Bay Resort. Believe it or not, Loews Coronado Bay Resort is located on its own peninsula! With 15 acres of a private oasis, it is perfectly located to have stunning views of the downtown San Diego skyline. Lowes says it perfectly: “we invite you to do absolutely nothing - or take advantage of all our property has to offer including three heated pool, our luxurious Sea Spa offering relaxing therapies and fitness option and the endless water-sport activities”.
